Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ closes trailer temporarily, focusing on Buda

Lovers of mesquite smoked meats piled into soft folds of lardy homemade flour tortillas will temporarily have one fewer option for their fix.

Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ, the popular trailer operated by pitmaster Miguel Vidal, announced Tuesday on Instagram that it is closing its trailer while the team prepares of its long-awaited move into a restaurant at 306 S. Main St. in Buda.

Management wrote in the comments section of the post that the trailer closure will be temporary, as the team shifts its focus to the large restaurant. Valentina's alerted followers to keep any eye on the barbecue operation's social media channels for an exact date of the opening, and we've reached out to see if we can get a firm date.

Vidal and wife, Modesty, opened the trailer named after their daughter behind Star Bar in 2013, drawing immediate praise from the American-Statesman and many more for the mesquite-smoked barbecue, tortillas and salsas that Vidal created to honor the cuisine of his South Texas childhood.

Valentina's is a regular fixture in American-Statesman lists of both the best barbecue and best tacos in town. The trailer moved to Brodie Lane for a couple of years before landing at its current Manchaca Road location.
